Pins are the cheapest part of an accurate reading
A bent or blunt pin makes intermittent contact, and on a resistance meter poor contact reads low — it reports a substrate as drier than it is. That is the dangerous direction for the error to run. Change pins at the first sign of damage rather than at the point of obvious failure.
The needles are held by the BLD0501 ferrule nuts. If a new needle still works loose, replace the ferrule nut as well — a needle that moves under hand pressure will not read consistently.
