Wand Glides

A glide is a consumable that behaves like a fitting. It changes how the wand moves, how much of the vacuum slot stays in contact with the carpet, and how much water is left behind — and it wears out without ever looking broken.

It is also the single most mis-ordered item in the trade, because glides are specified by lip width and jet pattern rather than by the wand's nominal size.

The range covers GreenGlides for Westpak in 12 and 14 inch across titanium, LP and pre-2015 patterns, Prochem TI 13.5 inch in 1.3 cm and 1.7 cm fits and the Quad Jet 11 inch, CMP PowerClean 12 and 14 inch, SteamVac 15 inch, Damweld 12 inch and AW29 12 inch; HydraMaster RX20 two-bolt glides; and Sapphire replacement glides for EVO 1.5 inch and 2 inch wands.

How to choose

Measure the lip width, do not assume it. Wand size does not determine glide fit. One AW29 glide in this range is specified for a lip width under 16 mm, and a wand a few millimetres wider needs a different part. Measure the wand head before ordering.

Slotted or holed changes the airflow. A slotted glide maintains a continuous vacuum slot; a holed glide breaks it into segments. They are not interchangeable on the same wand and they clean differently.

Internal fit and external fit are different parts. Internal seats inside the head, external clamps around it — which is why the same wand size appears twice in this range.

Production year matters on Westpak and Prochem. Pre-2015 and post-2015 Westpak patterns differ, as do the two Prochem TI fits. If you are reordering from memory, check the year and the fit dimension rather than the wand name.

Replace before the edge rounds. A worn leading edge drags and lifts the vacuum slot off the carpet. Recovery drops before anyone notices the glide.
