Pump Up Sprayers

A pump-up sprayer is the simplest tool on the van and the one most often destroyed by the chemistry put through it. Seals swell, wands cloud, and a sprayer that has held a solvent will never be trusted with a prespray again.

Buying one per chemistry type is cheaper than replacing them, and far cheaper than the job where the wrong residue went onto a customer's carpet.

The range covers the Hydro-Force TWBS sprayer at 8 litre and the heavy duty TCBS at 12 litre; a budget commercial sprayer at 12 litre; Dema pump-up foamers in 5.0 litre and 10 litre; and the Volenex 1.5 litre Viton solvent resistant hand sprayer.

How to choose

Viton where solvents run. Standard seals swell and fail against solvent spotters, and they fail without warning. The Volenex is specified with Viton for exactly that reason.

Dedicate a sprayer per product type and label it. Prespray, acid rinse and solvent should never share a bottle. Cross-contamination shows up as a result you cannot repeat and a stain you cannot explain.

Size to the carry, not the tank. A full 12 litre sprayer is heavy for stairs and upper floors. Many operators run the 8 litre for residential and keep the 12 litre for commercial.

Foamers are a different tool. A pump-up foamer produces foam that clings to vertical surfaces. It is not a substitute for a general sprayer, and a general sprayer will not foam.

Release the pressure at the end of the day. A sprayer left pressurised overnight works its seals for nothing. It is the single habit that most extends their life.
