Cloths & Sponges
The cloth decides whether a spot comes out or spreads. Colour, fibre and how much the cloth has already absorbed all change the result — and a coloured cloth on a wet spot can transfer dye into the carpet, which turns a small problem into a claim.
This is the cheapest category in the catalogue and the one where reusing something past its life costs the most.
The range covers white terry cloth spotting towels; the Hydra Pro synthetic sponge; Leather Master white felt cloths, nubuck cloths in 2-packs and small cleaning sponges; and Actichem Biosan II wipes.
How to choose
White on anything wet. A white cloth cannot transfer dye and it shows you what is coming out, which is how you know whether to keep working or stop.
Blot, do not rub. Pressure and absorbency lift a spot. Rubbing distorts pile and drives residue deeper — and on a heat-set carpet the distortion does not recover.
Leather takes its own cloths. Felt for protected leather, nubuck cloths for nubuck. A general-purpose cloth on aniline or nubuck can burnish the surface permanently.
Change the cloth well before it looks used. A loaded cloth stops absorbing and starts redepositing. On a spotting job that is the moment the spot stops improving.
Spotters are in Spotting Chemicals, leather chemistry in Leather Cleaning, and bottles in Containers & Measuring Cups.
