Furniture Moving
Furniture moving is where the injuries happen and where the damage claims come from. It is also the part of the job most often done with whatever is to hand, by two people who have already worked a full day.
Sliders and straps are cheap against a strained back or a gouged floorboard, and they let one person do what would otherwise need two.
The range covers EZ Moves Pro in sets of four and EZ Moves hard surface furniture slides in sets of four; 9 cm carpet skidders; and Forearm Forklift lifting straps.
How to choose
The slide is chosen by the floor, not the furniture. A slider designed for carpet has a hard base that glides on pile; one for hard floor has a soft base that protects the surface. Using the carpet type on timber is how a floor gets scratched.
Straps move the load to the legs. Lifting straps work by shifting leverage away from the back. They are most valuable on the awkward items — a full filing cabinet, a sofa through a doorway.
Blocks and skidders are what protect a drying carpet. Furniture returned onto damp carpet transfers finish and stains. Skidders keep the feet off the pile until it is dry.
Photograph before you move anything. Existing damage found after the move is your damage unless there is a photo. It takes thirty seconds.
