Delmhorst Moisture Meters

A Delmhorst reading is only as good as the electrode taking it. The meters are deliberately simple; the range of electrodes behind them is what lets one instrument read a hardwood floor, a plaster wall and a subfloor cavity without compromise.

This page is the instrument and electrode side of the range — the meters themselves, and everything that connects to them.

Meters include the TotalCheck 3-in-1 with thermohygrometer and its flooring and restoration packages, TechCheck Plus 2-in-1, the analogue RC-1E wood meter in a hardwood case, the JL-2000 leather meter and the HT-4000 thermo-hygrometer with RH/T sensor. Electrodes cover the 2-E and 22-E two-pin, the 21-E deep wall probe at 3.25 inch penetration, the 21-ET and 22-ET with tapped handles, the 26-ES and 26-ED slide hammer probes with and without depth gauge, the 19-E blade type at 5 inch and 35 degrees, and the 2-E/SPLIT coax cable electrode with alligator clips.

How to choose

Penetration depth is the specification that matters. A 3.25 inch deep wall probe and a surface pin electrode answer different questions on the same wall. Decide the depth you need to read before choosing the electrode.

Slide hammers are for dense material. The 26-ES and 26-ED drive pins into hardwood and subfloor without bending them. The 26-ED adds a depth gauge, which matters when you are recording readings at set depths for a drying log.

Tapped handles let you extend. The 21-ET and 22-ET accept extensions to reach behind fixed cabinetry and into ceiling voids.

The split coax electrode is for awkward attachment. Alligator clips let you take a reading where a fixed electrode body will not fit or where you are clipping to an existing fastener.
