Air Scrubbers

An air scrubber is what lets remediation happen in a building that is still in use. It captures airborne particulate at the source and, run as negative air, it stops the work area exporting its contents into the rest of the property.

On a mould or meth job it is not an air quality nicety — it is the containment strategy, and the documentation that goes with it is part of the file.

How to choose

Size by air changes per hour, not by room size. The required rate depends on the class of work, not the floor plan. Under-sizing looks cheaper on the quote and fails at verification.

Negative or positive is a containment decision. Ducted to outside, a scrubber holds the work area under negative pressure so nothing leaves through the barrier. Run as a recirculating filter it cleans the air but does not contain. Decide which job it is doing.

Filters are staged, and the pre-filter is the cheap one. The pre-filter exists to protect the HEPA. Running without it moves the cost onto the most expensive element in the stack.

UV-C is an addition, not a replacement. The 550UV adds a UV-C stage to the same filtration. It does not reduce the need for correct filters or correct air changes.
