Flood Extraction
The first eight hours of a water loss decide the cost of the whole job. Water that is extracted is water that does not have to be evaporated, and every litre lifted mechanically is hours of dehumidifier runtime and days of drying you do not pay for.
Sub-surface water is the part that gets missed. Carpet can look nearly dry while the underlay is still saturated, and surface airflow will not reach it.

How to choose
Weighted tools work the underlay, not the pile. A Water Claw or SOS tool uses operator weight and a sealed head to pull water from beneath the carpet. A standard wand cleans the surface — it does not dewater the assembly.
Tool size follows the machine, not the room. A large flood tool moves more per pass but needs the vacuum to clear it. On an under-powered portable the medium finishes the job sooner.
Auto pump-out earns its cost on volume, not on residential. Continuous pump-out removes the tank cycle entirely, which matters on a large commercial loss and rarely on a single room.
Injection tools address the layer you cannot reach. The medium deluxe with injection and the SOS flush kit put clean solution into the assembly and lift it back out — the answer to contaminated water in underlay.
Extract before you dry, and record both. A drying plan that starts before extraction is finished will run long and will not defend well on an insurer’s file.
