Upholstery work is unforgiving. The fabric is thinner than carpet, the backing is closer to the surface, and there is no pad underneath to absorb a mistake.

Over-wetting shows up as watermarks, browning and shrinkage, usually after you have left.

The tool does most of the work in avoiding that. A well-designed upholstery head recovers nearly as much moisture as it puts down.

The range covers PMF, HydraMaster DriMaster 3 and EVOLUTION, Sapphire Scientific Clear-View, and CMP, in 3, 3.5 and 4.5 inch heads at 500 PSI.

Internal or external jets

Internal jet tools spray inside the head. Less overspray, better control on delicate fabrics, and cleaner work around timber, walls and trim.

External jet tools spray ahead of the head, so you can see the spray pattern and pre-wet ahead of the stroke. Easier to clear if a jet blocks.

Head size A 3.5 inch head is normally used on Portable extractors and the 4.5 inch is for Truckmounts.

Stainless steel or plastic - stainless lasts longer and handles heat and most employee level abuse; plastic is great to use because you can see the when the soiling has been removed through the clear acrylic.

The biggest mistake we see is buying the tool for the job rather than matching it to the machine it's going on. Put a continuous flow tool on a portable without auto fill and auto pump-out and you'll spend the day refilling and dumping. And a 4.5 inch head won't make a portable faster — it isn't laying down more water, it's that the same CFM spread across a much wider opening loses the velocity to pull it back out, so the fabric stays wet. A 4.5 inch covers flat panels faster, but only on a machine with the airflow to recover across the wider opening.
