Lint free, for a reason
Protection cream is applied thin and even, and anything the cloth sheds gets bound into the finish as it dries. A felt cloth leaves nothing behind — an ordinary rag or a microfibre with a loose nap does.
Where It Fits in a Leather Job
The felt cloth is for the last step — protection — not for cleaning. Leather Master's Australian distributor directs that Protection Cream is poured onto a clean, white cloth and applied in circular movements. A white cloth also shows you straight away if any colour is coming off the leather.
- Clean with Leather Master Soft Cleaner (or Strong Cleaner for heavier soiling), using the cleaning sponge and foaming bottle.
- Let the leather dry completely.
- Apply Protection Cream with the felt cloth — a thin, even coat, concentrating on the contact areas.
One cloth, one product
Keep the protection cloth separate from the cleaning sponge and from anything used with solvent. Cross-contamination between a cleaner and a protector shows up as patchy protection, which you only discover when the customer’s next spill soaks in.
Test first, every time
Leather finishes vary enormously — pigmented, aniline, semi-aniline, nubuck, suede — and a product or a method that is safe on one will strip or stain another. Test on a hidden area and let it dry fully before committing to the visible surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a microfibre cloth instead?
You can, but a microfibre with a loose nap can shed into the cream as it dries. The felt cloth is lint free, which is why CCW supplies it for protection work.
Can I use the same cloth for cleaning?
No. Keep it for protection cream only. Clean with the sponge and foaming bottle, and keep cleaner residue away from the protection step.
Is it for nubuck or suede?
Protection Cream is for smooth aniline and pigmented leather, not nubuck or suede. For nubuck and suede, see Leather Master Nubuck Eco Protector and the Nubuck Cloths.
