Leather Master Strong Cleaner is a gentle, water-based cleaner. It is similar to Soft Cleaner but has twice the active ingredients. Strong Cleaner will remove the heaviest soiling and water-based stains.
Leather Strong Cleaner is designed for use on stains and heavy soiling. This is a strong cleaner, so always pre-test the leather for colour fastness before use.

Please note: Strong Cleaner can be used on sensitive leathers such as aniline and nubuck, but it is not recommended as it may cause colour loss. For sensitive leathers, we recommend Foam Cleaner.

In practice: Strong Cleaner is the step up from Soft Cleaner on pigmented leather. On aniline, pull-up or nubuck, always test first and apply only as foam. For nubuck and suede, Leather Master Nubuck Cleaner is the product made for the job. Foam Cleaner is not currently listed online — ask CCW.

Start with Soft Cleaner and move to Strong Cleaner only where it is needed.
Test First
Leather Master's colourfastness test: apply a small amount of product to a clean, white cloth, rub it gently on a hidden area, and check for colour transfer. Leather Master say to check after 30 minutes. If colour transfers, do not use the product on that piece.
Instructions
- Pour a small amount of Leather Strong Cleaner onto a sponge. Gently squeeze the sponge to create foam.
- Apply the foam to the surface to be cleaned. Allow a few moments for the foam to dissolve the dirt, and then remove the foam with a clean white cloth. If your furniture is heavily soiled allow the foam to stand for 30 seconds or longer before removing it.
- Leave to dry.
- Once the leather is completely dry, apply Leather Protection Cream.
Please note: Strong Cleaner can be used on sensitive leathers such as aniline or nubuck, but it may cause colour loss. To minimise the risk of colour loss, Leather Strong Cleaner should be applied as a foam, not as a liquid. Foam can be created using a foaming bottle, or by whisking the product with a household whisk.
Leather Master Australia's Directions Add
- Dampen a colourfast sponge with water and squeeze out the excess first (Leather Master Cleaning Sponge).
- Use a foaming bottle on delicate leathers such as aniline.
- Work one small area at a time with gentle circular motions. Do not rub or scrub.
- Leather Master quote a drying time of 4–5 minutes; protect only once the leather is completely dry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Strong Cleaner for regular cleaning?
It is made for stains and heavy soiling. For routine maintenance cleaning, Soft Cleaner is the milder choice.
Is it safe on aniline or nubuck?
It can cause colour loss on sensitive leathers. Test first, apply only as foam, and on nubuck and suede use Nubuck Cleaner instead.
Why foam and not liquid?
Foam keeps the cleaner on the surface. Liquid soaks in, which raises the risk of colour loss and water marks.
Will it remove oil or ink?
Strong Cleaner is for soiling and water-based stains. Oil and grease marks need Leather Master Leather Degreaser; ballpoint ink on pigmented leather needs Ink Away.
Do I need to protect afterwards?
Yes. Once the leather is completely dry, apply Protection Cream (smooth leather) or Nubuck Eco Protector (nubuck and suede).
