Leather Master Protection Cream is a water-based protector that places an invisible, breathable barrier between you and your leather. This barrier protects your leather from oil, water, and alcohol-based stains.
This is the 250 mL pack. The same product is available in a 1 litre pack: Leather Master Protection Cream 1 litre.
- Unprotected leather is highly absorbent. Leather is hydrophilic - it has an affinity for water. As a result, leather draws liquids deep into its pores causing stains that can be nearly impossible to remove.
- Leather Master Protection Cream is hydrophobic - it repels water and helps prevent staining. Protection Cream also protects the leather from other damaging liquids, such as the oils and fatty acids found in perspiration.
- Protection plays a vital role in correctly caring for leather. Nothing can provide 100% protection against stains, but stains are always easier to remove from protected leather.
- Suitable for aniline and pigmented leather.
Where It Fits in a Leather Job
Protection Cream is the last step, not the first. The usual sequence is clean, let the leather dry completely, then protect:
- Clean with Leather Master Soft Cleaner for general soiling, or Leather Master Strong Cleaner for heavier soiling.
- Allow the leather to dry.
- Apply Protection Cream to the contact areas.
Applying a protector over dirty leather seals the soil in rather than keeping it out.
Important: Not for Nubuck or Suede
Protection Cream is for smooth aniline and pigmented leather. Leather Master's distributors state it should not be used on nubuck or suede. For nubuck and suede, use Leather Master Nubuck Eco Protector.
Test First
Apply a small amount to a hidden area, allow it to dry, and check the colour and feel before treating the whole piece. This matters most on aniline and on white or very light coloured leather.
Instructions
- Apply the Leather Master Protection Cream to a soft cloth and wipe a thin layer evenly over your furniture. Pay particular attention to those areas that come into contact with the body, such as the headrests, armrests, and seats.
- A light coat is all that is required. Allow about 30 minutes for the Leather Protection Cream to dry before using your furniture.
Aniline leather doesn’t have a protective topcoat, so it is best to apply two layers of Protection Cream to all the contact areas. If you have white or very light coloured leather furniture, we also recommend you apply two layers of Leather Protection Cream to the contact areas. Always allow the first layer to dry before applying a second layer. A hair drier can be used to speed up the drying process, but take care not to overheat or burn the leather.
Leather Protection Cream will need to be re-applied every 3-6 months. Before re-applying Leather Protection Cream thoroughly clean your furniture with Leather Soft Cleaner.

Do I need to clean the leather before applying Protection Cream?
Yes. Clean with Soft Cleaner (or Strong Cleaner for heavier soiling), let the leather dry completely, then protect. Protecting over soil locks it in.
How many coats should I apply?
One light coat on pigmented leather. Two coats on the contact areas of aniline leather and white or very light coloured leather, letting the first coat dry before the second.
Can I use it on nubuck or suede?
No. Use Nubuck Eco Protector on nubuck and suede.
Is Protection Cream a conditioner?
No. It is a stain protector. For pigmented leather that feels dry or squeaks, see Leather Master Leather Vital.
How often should it be reapplied?
Every 3–6 months, and after every clean.
250 mL or 1 litre?
The 250 mL pack suits occasional jobs and van kits. Contractors protecting furniture regularly will usually find the 1 litre pack more practical.
