Why a Bib?
SpeedClean describes mini-splits as the fastest-growing segment of HVAC installations, and cleaning them can be profitable work. Until bib systems arrived there was no easy way to wash an installed wall unit properly — it was a labour-intensive and tedious process, and usually ended in a token wipe rather than a proper coil wash.
The patented Mini-Split Bib Kit from SpeedClean attaches quickly to mini-split systems up to 112 cm (44 in) wide using special brackets. The custom bib section creates a barrier against the wall and other surroundings so you can clean the coils, fan blades and more with pressurised cleaning systems, like pump sprayers or the CoilJet portable coil cleaning system.
How to Set It Up
The system is simple to use. Slide the brackets in behind the corners of the mini-split air handler. Attach the bib and protective wall plates and tighten. Then place the bottom of the bib funnel into a 20 litre bucket. All coil cleaner, water and debris are funnelled into the bucket.

Before You Wash
- Isolate the air conditioner at the switchboard or isolator before fitting the bib — SpeedClean's first step is to turn off the main power.
- Cover the unit's display, control board and any wall-mounted controller with the low tack tape. Do not use masking or packing tape on painted walls.
- Check the bib for holes and the drain spout for splits before you start. A leaking bib puts water down a customer's wall.
- Keep the bucket below the bib outlet so the drain hose runs downhill all the way.
- Coil cleaner and wash water go to the bucket. Dispose of it in line with the chemical's SDS and local trade waste rules, not into a stormwater drain.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why buy it without the bucket?
If you already carry buckets, or are adding a second bib to the van, there is no need to pay for another. Any sound bucket that sits below the drain outlet will do; SpeedClean's is 5 gallons (about 19 litres).
Will it fit a unit wider than 112 cm?
No. Use the Mini-Split Bib Kit XL, which SpeedClean lists for units 45 to 60 in wide.
Does it suit ceiling cassettes?
No. Cassettes need the Mini-Split Cassette Bib Kit.
How many cleans will the bib last?
It depends on handling. For the Bib Kit 360, CCW's guidance is around 10 to 12 units before the bag needs replacing, with storage and handling making a big difference. Dry the bib before packing it away and keep it clear of sharp bracket corners.
Can I use a pump sprayer instead of a CoilJet?
Yes. SpeedClean names pump sprayers and the CoilJet as suitable pressurised cleaners.
