Colour is for identification, not specification. Hoses of the same size and length perform identically whatever the colour — operators use colour to tell solution from vacuum at a glance, or to identify their own hose on a shared job.
Diameter and Length Decide Your Airflow
Two things govern how much air reaches the tool, and neither is the machine:
- The narrowest section. Restriction follows the smallest diameter anywhere in the line. A 2 inch run with one 1.5 inch section is a 1.5 inch line.
- Total length. Vacuum falls off with every metre. Two 15 m hoses joined to reach a back room cost more than most operators expect.
Buy the shortest run that reaches, and the largest diameter your machine and your tools support. Where a long run is unavoidable, keep the bulk of it at the larger size and step down only at the tool — that is what the Vac Attack (AH59) is for.
Construction
- Smooth bore — the internal wall is smooth rather than corrugated, so air passes without the turbulence a ribbed bore creates.
- Polyethylene copolymer with a reinforcement helix — the helix holds the bore open under vacuum, which is what stops a hose collapsing when the machine pulls hard.
- Light and flexible, with a tight bend radius for working around furniture and up stairs.

The manufacturer does not publish a temperature rating, a wall thickness or a crush rating for this hose. Rather than estimate them, we have left them out.

Operating Advice
- Do not drive over it, and do not drag it around a sharp external corner under vacuum. Both crush the helix, and a crushed section restricts the whole line.
- Check the cuffs when lift drops. A cuff joint is a far more common leak than the hose itself.
- Drain and dry it before it goes back in the van. Hose stored wet is where the smell in a van starts.
- Keep it off hot surfaces near the truckmount. Heat softens the wall and a softened hose collapses under vacuum.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 1.5 inch enough, or should I run 2 inch?
1.5 inch suits portables and shorter runs. On a truckmount with a long run, 2 inch keeps considerably more airflow at the tool — see AH24.
Does colour change anything?
No. It is for identification. Same size and length, same performance.
Can I join two hoses together?
Yes, with cuffs and a connector, or with a mender on bare ends. Every joint and every extra metre costs airflow, so join to solve a damaged section rather than to reach further.
How do I know if a hose is restricting my line?
Look for a crushed or kinked section, and check the cuff joints for leaks. Lift lost in the line is more often a joint than the hose wall.

What We See in the Field
Lost lift is blamed on the machine and is usually the line. In order of likelihood: a leaking cuff joint, a crushed section nobody noticed, too much total hose on the floor, then the machine.
The other common one is a hose that has been joined to reach further and left joined permanently. It works, and it quietly costs recovery on every job afterwards.
