Leather Master cleaning sponge, small.
This is the small application sponge from the Leather Master range, used to turn Leather Master cleaners into foam and carry that foam onto the leather. Leather Master describes the sponge’s job as aerating the cleaner: the foam suspends soil for easy removal and reduces friction on the surface while you clean.
Why a dedicated sponge
Leather cleaning is done with foam and a light touch, not with water and pressure. A fine open-cell sponge generates and carries that foam without holding excess liquid, which is the point — over-wetting leather drives moisture into the hide and causes staining and stiffening that appears days later.
Keep the sponge for leather only. A sponge that has been used with a general cleaner carries residue into a finish that will react to it.
Used with the foaming bottle to generate foam, and the white felt cloth for applying protection cream.
How to Use It
- Dispense a small amount of Leather Master cleaner into the sponge.
- Squeeze the sponge to work the cleaner into foam.
- Apply the foam to the leather and work it gently — do not scrub.
- Let the foam loosen the soil, then wipe it off with a clean cloth.
- Rinse the sponge in clean water after the job and let it dry.
Follow the directions on the cleaner you are using. Leather Master’s directions for its Soft Cleaner follow cleaning with Protection Cream.
Test first, every time
Leather finishes vary enormously — pigmented, aniline, semi-aniline, nubuck, suede — and a product or a method that is safe on one will strip or stain another. Test on a hidden area and let it dry fully before committing to the visible surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many sponges do I need?
Keep separate sponges for cleaning and for applying protection or conditioning products, so cleaner residue does not end up under the protection layer. On a large lounge suite, a fresh sponge part-way through keeps the foam clean.
When should I replace it?
When it stops foaming well, starts to break up, or holds colour or soil that will not rinse out. A torn sponge can snag on stitching and piping.
Can I use it with other brands of leather cleaner?
It is a plain application sponge, so it will foam most foaming leather cleaners. Keep one sponge per product to avoid mixing chemistry on the leather.
