Important — This Is Not a Mender
A PVC connector does not join two bare hose ends. The barbs are there for hose cuffs to slide over, so each hose needs a cuff fitted before this part is any use.
A PVC join is four parts: two hoses, two cuffs, one connector. If you want to join two bare hose ends directly, you want a mender instead — Hose Mender 1.5 Inch (AH50) or Hose Mender 2 Inch (AH49).
Cuff, Mender or Connector — Which Do You Need?
Three different parts, routinely bought in error for one another.

The one that catches people out is the PVC connector. It does not join two bare hose ends. It needs a cuff already fitted to each hose, and the barbs are there for those cuffs to slide over. So a PVC join is four parts — two hoses, two cuffs, one connector. A mender is two hoses and one mender, and nothing else.
Temperature — Worth Knowing on a Truckmount
These are Spears PVC insert couplings. Spears publishes a maximum PVC service temperature of 60 degrees C (140 F).
For comparison, high-heat truckmount vacuum hose is rated to around 115 degrees C (240 F) at the truck. So the connector is the lower-rated component in that assembly.
Two honest qualifications. Spears' figure is stated for pressure-pipe service, and a vacuum line is not a pressure line — the failure mode would be softening and collapse rather than bursting. And waste air at the tool end of a long run is well below solution temperature at the truck.
The practical advice: PVC connectors suit portables and the cooler tool end of a run. Close to a truckmount waste outlet, a threaded mender or a cuffed joint is the safer choice.

Can I join two bare hoses with this?
No. Each hose needs a cuff fitted first. Use a mender if you want to join bare ends.
Which cuffs do I need with it?
Standard screw cuffs sized to your hose — see Hose Cuff 1.5 Inch (AH42), Hose Cuff 2 Inch (AH44) and Hose Cuff 2.5 Inch (AH220).
Can I use it near the truckmount?
We would not. PVC is rated to 60 degrees C and the hose near the truck runs much hotter. Use it at the tool end or on portables.
Is it the same as the 1.5 inch version?
No — that is PVC Connector 1.5 Inch (AH74). Match the connector to your hose sizes.
