Vinyl hose mender for 1.5 inch (38mm) vacuum hose, threaded on both ends. It screws directly onto two bare hose ends.
Two uses: repairing a hose that has been damaged in the middle, and joining two shorter lengths into one longer run.
Cuff, Mender or Connector — Which Do You Need?
Three different parts, routinely bought in error for one another.

The one that catches people out is the PVC connector. It does not join two bare hose ends. It needs a cuff already fitted to each hose, and the barbs are there for those cuffs to slide over. So a PVC join is four parts — two hoses, two cuffs, one connector. A mender is two hoses and one mender, and nothing else.
Repairing a Damaged Hose
A split or crushed section does not write off the hose. Cut out the damaged length, square both cut ends on a clean turn of the helix, and screw a mender in between. You lose the damaged section and keep the rest.
Cut on the helix, not across it. A cut that leaves half a turn at the end gives the mender thread nothing to grip and it will pull off under vacuum load.

Do I need cuffs as well?
No. That is the difference between a mender and a PVC connector. A mender screws straight onto the bare hose.
Can I use it to repair a hose mid-run?
Yes — that is its main use. Cut out the damage and mend the two ends together.
Will the join hold under vacuum?
If both ends are cut cleanly on the helix, yes. Most mender failures are bad cuts, not bad menders.
What if my two hoses are different sizes?
A mender is same-to-same. For different sizes you need a reducer cuff arrangement — contact us.
