Important — This Is Not a Mender
A PVC connector does not join two bare hose ends. The barbs are there for hose cuffs to slide over, so each hose needs a cuff fitted before this part is any use.
A PVC join is four parts: two hoses, two cuffs, one connector. If you want to join two bare hose ends directly, you want a mender instead — Hose Mender 1.5 Inch (AH50) or Hose Mender 2 Inch (AH49).

Joining Hose Costs You Airflow — But Less Than the Alternative
Every joint in a vacuum line is a restriction and a potential leak, and vacuum performance falls off with total hose length. That said, a properly cuffed joint loses far less than a damaged section of hose that is drawing air along its length.
If you are joining hose because a run has been cut out, that is good practice. If you are joining hose to reach further, check whether the machine still has the lift to do the job before you add the length.

Operating Advice
- Do not use it near the truckmount. PVC is rated to around 60 degrees C and the hose close to the machine runs hotter than that. Keep it at the tool end, or on portables.
- Seat both cuffs fully. A cuff pushed halfway on holds until the hose is dragged around a corner.
- Check the joint when lift drops. A connector join is the easiest place in a line to lose vacuum and the easiest to overlook.

Can I join two bare hoses with this?
No. Each hose needs a cuff fitted first. Use a mender if you want to join bare ends.
Which cuffs do I need with it?
Standard screw cuffs sized to your hose — see Hose Cuff 1.5 Inch (AH42).
Can I use it near the truckmount?
We would not. PVC is rated to around 60 degrees C and the hose near the truck runs much hotter. Use it at the tool end or on portables.
Is it the same as the 2 inch version?
No — that is PVC Connector 2 Inch (AH76). Match the connector to your hose sizes.
Can I go from 1.5 inch to 2 inch with it?
Not with this one. That is PVC Connector 2 Inch to 1.5 Inch (AH71).

What We See in the Field
Most connectors that fail were not fitted wrong — they were fitted somewhere too hot. A PVC join a few metres from the truckmount softens, goes oval and starts drawing air, and the loss shows up at the wand as a machine that will not dry the carpet in the usual passes.
