SKU:IO-T4000

The International Ozone Titan 4000 is a large-area, ozone-free photocatalytic hydroxyl generator for restoration projects with severe odours where the building cannot be fully evacuated. It treats 1,133–1,416 m³ (40,000–50,000 ft³) according to CCW's listing, about four times the original Titan 1000. International Ozone's spec sheet gives a maximum of 40,000 ft³ (1,133 m³).

On jobs where time matters or complete evacuation is not possible, the Titan 4000 lets crews and occupants stay in the space while it runs.

How It Works

International Ozone describe the process this way: UVA light at 365–385 nm from the Titan's TiO₂ photocatalytic lamps passes through an anatase titanium dioxide coated reactor. Electron–hole pairs form and react with water vapour and oxygen in the air, producing free electrons and hydroxyl radicals. The fan disperses them, and they break down organic and inorganic gases, air pollutants and odour molecules into carbon dioxide and water.

The Titan produces no ozone, so a space can stay occupied while it runs, as International Ozone state. That is its main difference from an ozone generator, which needs the space cleared.

Hydroxyl vs Ozone: What to Expect

International Ozone note that the Titan takes four to eight times longer than ozone to neutralise odours. Do not judge it in the first few hours. Choose it when the space cannot be evacuated; choose ozone when it can and speed matters.

Humidity matters too. Hydroxyl generation depends on water vapour in the incoming air, so in dry conditions a Titan Hydroxyl Maximiser behind the unit helps.

A hydroxyl generator deals with airborne odour and gases. It does not remove the source. Clean and remove the odour source first, then run the Titan.

Applications

  • Large fire and flood restoration projects
  • Commercial buildings, venues and multi-room homes that cannot be cleared
  • Smoke, cooking and general odours in occupied spaces

The spec sheet lists fan output as 5,000 CFM; we are confirming that figure with International Ozone.

Voltage: CCW supplies the Titan as a 230 V, 50 Hz Australian build with an Australian plug. International Ozone's published spec sheets describe the 110 V US model; the electrical figures on them do not apply to CCW stock.

Maintenance and Parts

The TiO₂ photocatalytic lamp is self-cleaning and performs at its best for up to 8,000 hours, according to International Ozone. Keep the washable filter clean so airflow through the reactor is not restricted.

Main parts listed by International Ozone: 20 in fan (FA-20), lamp (L-TIO28), ballast (B-120CIR), 5 A circuit breaker (CB-5), electrostatic photocatalytic filter (EF-1), reactor screen (RS-1) and lamp clamp (LC-1). Lamp replacement means opening the case and disconnecting the ballast harness; follow the lamp removal sheet below, and have electrical work done by a qualified person.

Replacement filter: International Ozone Titan 4000 electrostatic filter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can people stay in the building while it runs?

Yes. The Titan produces no ozone, which is why it is used where a building cannot be cleared.

How long will it take?

Longer than ozone. International Ozone say four to eight times longer, so you may not notice a change at first. Leave it running.

Does it kill germs?

We do not make germ-kill or health claims for the Titan in Australia. It is sold for odour, VOC and air quality work.

How often do the lamps need replacing?

International Ozone rate the lamps for up to 8,000 hours of optimum performance.

What about dry conditions?

Hydroxyl production depends on humidity. Use a Titan Hydroxyl Maximiser in dry conditions.

A Note on Earlier Versions of This Page

Earlier versions of this page carried International Ozone's US marketing: that the Titan 4000 "kills germs", performs "decontamination" and "germ-destroying services", is "100% safe" in inhabited areas, and is ideal for doctors' waiting rooms, nursing homes and day care centres. Claims that an air-treatment device kills germs or protects health are therapeutic claims in Australia and need evidence and approvals we do not hold, so they have been removed. The Titan is sold here for odour, VOC and air quality work. The unit is unchanged.
