Protimeter Digital Mini Pin Moisture Meter
The Digital Mini is a pin-type moisture meter with a digital display and a colour LED scale. It reads moisture content where the pins make contact, and an auxiliary port takes the full range of Protimeter plug-in probes, so the same instrument reads at depth when the job calls for it.
It replaces the earlier BLD5702.
Two displays, and why that matters
The digital readout gives the number for a report. The colour LED arc gives dry, at risk or wet at a glance, which is what you actually use while walking a room. Reading a numeric display for every one of fifty spot checks is slow; reading a colour is not.
Pin measurement and its limits
Pin mode measures at the surface, to a maximum needle depth of 10 mm. Sub-surface readings come from plug-in probes — a hammer electrode for timber, deep wall probes for solid walls, an EIFS probe for insulated finish systems.
Readings above roughly 30% WME are relative rather than absolute. Above fibre saturation the scale still tells you the material is wet and still tracks the direction of drying, which is what matters when monitoring a structure.

If you need to find moisture behind a finished surface without marking it, a pin meter is the wrong tool — look at the SurveyMaster or the Aquant.
Calibration
The instrument runs an automatic WME calibration check periodically, and a check can be run at any time against the Calcheck device. For a documented conformance certificate, twelve months is a sensible starting interval, adjusted to your own work environment and quality procedures. Certification is available in Australia.
