Protimeter Deep Wall Probes 360 mm
A pair of insulated deep wall probes on a lead, for taking moisture readings deep inside a structure with a pin-type Protimeter meter. Nominal reach 360 mm — nearly three times the reach of the standard 127 mm pair.
How deep wall probes are used
The integral pins on a meter read the surface. Deep wall probes read inside the structure — wall cavities, insulation, sub-floor voids and behind linings — through a small drilled hole rather than by opening the wall up.
The needles are insulated along their length and read only at the exposed tip, so the reading comes from the depth the tip has reached rather than from everything the probe passed through on the way in. That is what makes a profile possible: take a reading, push further, take another, and the moisture gradient through the structure becomes visible.
Two lengths, and only two
| Length | Part number | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 127 mm (5 in) | BLD5018 | Cavity walls, insulation, standard stud construction |
| 360 mm (14 in) | BLD5019 | Deep sub-floor voids, thick masonry, insulated roof build-ups |
Protimeter also produces a 240 mm (9 in) version, BLD5020, which is not stocked in Australia — contact us if you need one. The two above are the lengths we hold. Note that Protimeter rounds the 127 mm probe to 130 mm (5 in) in its own documentation; it is the same part.
When the longer probe is the right one
Sub-floor voids, thick masonry walls, insulated roof build-ups and any construction where 127 mm does not get past the lining and into the material that matters. On a flood loss the moisture that dictates the drying time is usually the deepest, not the wettest at the surface.
Working method
- Drill a small pilot hole to the depth you want to read.
- Insert the probes and take the reading once it settles.
- For a profile, withdraw and repeat at different depths rather than trusting one figure.
- Compare against a reading taken in known-dry construction of the same type nearby.
Compatible meters
- Protimeter MMS3 and MMS2
- Protimeter SurveyMaster
- Protimeter TimberMaster
- Protimeter Mini, Mini C and Digital Mini
It does not fit the HygroMaster range, which measures air rather than materials, or the Aquant and ReachMaster Pro, which are non-invasive and take no probes.

Meters this fits
- Protimeter MMS3 — and the MMS2 it replaced
- Protimeter SurveyMaster
- Protimeter TimberMaster

It does not fit the HygroMaster range, which measures air rather than materials, or the non-invasive Aquant and ReachMaster Pro, which take no probes at all.
