Leather Master Nubuck Eco Protector is a water-based protector for nubuck and other sensitive leathers.
Leather Master Eco Protector provides excellent protection against oil, water, and alcohol-based stains. Eco protector will also reduce general soiling.
Why Nubuck Needs Protecting
The velvety soft texture of nubuck leather has been created by brushing or sanding the surface of the leather. Because the surface of the leather has been opened up, the leather is highly absorbent and very susceptible to staining.
Because it is so susceptible to staining, it is very important to protect nubuck leather. Nothing can provide 100% protection against soiling and stains, but protected leather is always easier to clean.
Suitable for nubuck and suede.
Important: Nubuck and Suede Only
For smooth aniline and pigmented leather use Leather Master Protection Cream instead. Protection Cream is not for nubuck or suede.
Instructions
- Make sure the leather is clean and dry. Eco Protector should only be used on clean leather. Shake the bottle well (Leather Master).
- Adjust the trigger spray to the finest mist spray.
- Spray the leather from a distance of approximately 30 cm. Apply enough protector to dampen the leather. You may need to repeat this process. Several thin layers are better than one thick one. But, always allow the product to dry completely between applications.
- Allow to dry. This will take approximately one hour.
- Once the leather is dry, rub it over with a large sponge to return its original nubuck effect.
Test First
Test on a hidden area before treating the piece. Leather Master note that nubuck usually shows some colour transfer when tested; that is normal, but heavy transfer means the product should not be used on that piece. If in doubt, contact us.
When to Reapply
Leather Master recommend reapplying every 3 to 6 months, and after every clean with the Nubuck Cloth or Nubuck Cleaner. Cleaning takes protection off with the soil.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it change the look of the nubuck?
The nap can flatten as the protector dries. Rubbing over the dry leather with a large sponge restores the nubuck finish.
One heavy coat or several light ones?
Several light coats, each dried fully before the next. One heavy coat is more likely to mark.
Does it stop all stains?
No. Nothing gives 100% protection. It reduces staining and makes soiling easier to remove.
Can I use it on smooth leather?
No. Use Protection Cream on aniline and pigmented leather.
