Electrical Clutch 6 Dual Groove CDS

Regular price $343.20

Overview

Twelve-volt electromagnetic clutch, 6 inch dual-groove, used in the HydraMaster CDS drive. HydraMaster part number 000-036-002.

The clutch is what lets the pump drive be engaged and disengaged from the vehicle engine without stopping the engine. It is an electrical assembly and a mechanical one at the same time, and it is one of the highest-value single parts in a CDS drive line.

What it fits

  • HydraMaster CDS (supplied as part of the CDS drive assembly)
  • AquaCat

The CDS clutch drive assembly it belongs to also contains clutch housing bracket 015-160, two clutch bearings 008-011 and clutch shaft 150-009.

Important — HydraMaster lists more than one 6 inch clutch

Three similar clutches appear in HydraMaster's parts documentation, and they are not interchangeable:

  • 036-002 — this part. 12 V, 6 inch, dual groove. CDS and AquaCat.
  • 036-003 — clutch assembly, 6 inch CDS, poly groove. Listed for the CDS 4.8 / 4.6.
  • 036-006 — clutch, 4.8 CDS / MAXX pump clutch. Listed for the CDS 4.8 / 4.6 and the MAXX 450D/470D.

Neither 036-003 nor 036-006 is currently a stocked CCW line. Count the belt grooves and check the belt type before you order. A dual-groove V-belt clutch and a poly-groove clutch will not swap.

Fitting and service advice

Check the air gap between the armature and the rotor when you fit a new clutch. Too wide and it will slip or fail to engage when hot; too tight and it will drag.

A clutch that engages cold but slips once the machine is hot is usually telling you the friction faces are worn or the gap has opened up, not that the coil has failed. A clutch that does not engage at all is more often a supply, earth or relay fault than the clutch itself — check the voltage at the coil before you condemn it.

Replace the drive belt at the same time. A worn belt on a new clutch face wears the new face early.

Frequently asked questions

Will this fit my CDS 4.8?

Not necessarily. The 4.8 is documented with a poly-groove clutch (036-003) and a separate pump clutch (036-006). Send us the model and serial number from the data plate and we will check the parts list for your machine.

What voltage is it?

12 V DC.

Is the coil replaceable on its own?

HydraMaster lists the clutch as an assembly. We do not hold documentation showing the coil as a separate service item.

Does it come with the shaft, bearings or bracket?

No. Those are separate part numbers — 150-009, 008-011 and 015-160.

Clutches are an expensive part to get wrong. Send us your machine model and serial number and we will confirm which of the three HydraMaster 6 inch clutches your machine actually takes before you order.
