Actichem Toilet Bowl Cleaner 5 ltr

Regular price $62.48

Product Overview

Actichem Responsibly Green Toilet Bowl Cleaner employs a naturally occurring organic acid with a lower corrosive profile than traditional mineral acids, inherent antimicrobial properties, and strong scale-removal power. This formula provides high-performance cleaning and de-staining of toilets and urinals in virtually all facility types whilst protecting the environment. It is also boosted with Elimotech odour-neutralising technology and anti-resoiling chemistry to make future cleans easier.

The acid system is glycolic and citric acid rather than hydrochloric or phosphoric. That is a real advantage for the operator and for the substrate — but it does not make the product mild. See Safety below.

Benefits

  • Easily and effectively removes rust, scale, stains and algae.
  • Boosted with Elimotech technology to continue working after your work is done.
  • Actichem describe the formula as having powerful germ-killing action. See the note under Safety about how to read that claim.
  • Cleans, refreshes and eliminates organic waste.
  • Digests organic matter at the source.
  • Destroys bad odours.
  • Anti-resoiling technology means surfaces repel dirt.
  • Part of Actichem’s Responsibly Green range.
  • Septic safe.

Application Areas and Surface Suitability

Cleaning of toilets and urinals.

How to Use

Read and understand the Safety Data Sheet before use. Ready to use — do not dilute.

Toilet bowls

Generously apply Toilet Bowl Cleaner to the inside of the bowl using the applicator bottle. Scrub the surface with a toilet brush and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes before flushing.

Urinals

Squeeze the bottle to cover the urinal area and clean with a toilet brush. Immediately after cleaning, flush generously with water.

Safety

Please read this section even if you have used this product before. Earlier versions of this page recorded the safety profile as non-hazardous. That was wrong, and we have corrected it against the current Safety Data Sheet.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner is classified as a HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL under the WHS Regulations. It is not classified as dangerous goods for transport, and it carries no Poisons Schedule.

  • Signal word: DANGER
  • H315 — causes skin irritation
  • H318 — causes serious eye damage
  • GHS: Skin Corrosion/Irritation Category 2; Serious Eye Damage/Eye Irritation Category 1
  • pH as supplied: 2 to 3
  • Actives: glycolic acid, citric acid, sodium lauryl ether sulphate and a proprietary surfactant, each below 10%

H318 is the statement that matters here. It means a splash in the eye can cause irreversible damage. This is a ready-to-use product applied by squeeze bottle into a bowl at floor level, which is precisely the geometry that produces upward splash. Wear eye protection. A great many cleaners do not, on this product, because it is sold as an everyday consumable.

A note on the signal word. Actichem’s own product page gives the signal word as “Warning”. Their current Safety Data Sheet, version 1.3 issued 12 January 2026, says DANGER. We publish the Safety Data Sheet position, because that is the controlled document.

A note on the published pH. Actichem’s product page currently states pH 8.5. That cannot be right for a product whose actives are glycolic and citric acid; the SDS states 2 to 3, and our own long-standing figure of 2.5 sits inside that range. We publish the SDS range and have raised the discrepancy with Actichem.

Personal protective equipment

The SDS specifies chemical protective gloves in butyl or neoprene, safety glasses with side shields or chemical goggles, overalls, and barrier cream.

First aid

Eyes. Wash out immediately with fresh running water, holding the eyelids apart to ensure complete irrigation. Seek medical attention without delay.

Skin. Remove contaminated clothing. Flush skin with running water and soap. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

How to read the germ-killing claim

Actichem describe the product as having powerful germ-killing action, and the SDS confirms the acid system has inherent antimicrobial properties. However, no TGA (ARTG) or APVMA registration number is published for this product. If your scope of work, contract or audit requires a listed disinfectant, this is not the product to specify. Use a TGA-listed product such as Actichem Percide or Thymox and keep the listing number on file. We would rather tell you that now than have it queried during an audit.

Never Mix With Bleach

This is an acid at pH 2 to 3, and toilet cleaning is where acid and bleach most often meet. Mixing an acid with sodium hypochlorite liberates chlorine gas. A toilet cubicle is a small, poorly ventilated space, and chlorine gas in a confined space causes severe respiratory injury.

The SDS lists no specific incompatible materials, and the acids here are weak organic acids rather than mineral acids — but the reaction with hypochlorite is a property of acidity itself, not of any particular acid. Never use this product in the same bowl, at the same time, or with the same brush as:

Flush thoroughly between products, and never store an open bottle of this alongside an open bottle of bleach on the same trolley.
