Product Overview
Actichem’s Percide is an advanced peroxide-based hospital grade disinfectant for the eradication of mould and decontamination of infectious environments.
Its formula penetrates deep into porous surfaces and reacts with mould spores and growth to eradicate them. It also removes the mould stain and brightens the surface being treated. Percide does not encapsulate or hide the mould — it attacks the spores and roots.
Percide also displays strong biocidal activity against bacteria and viruses. Evaluated against the hospital grade disinfectant test and the AOAC hard surface carrier test, it achieves the kill rates tabulated below in 60 seconds.
A note on clearance reports: earlier versions of this page said Percide ensures 100% clearance reports on every mould remediation job. Clearance depends on the whole remediation process — containment, source removal, physical removal of contaminated material, drying and independent verification. No product delivers a clearance result on its own. Percide is a very good disinfection and eradication step within that process.
Mould
Percide’s peroxide formula has several design features that provide consistent, reliable results in mould remediation. It reacts aggressively on contact with mould, eradicating spores and lifting mould out of surface pores.
Percide takes 10 minutes to achieve a greater than 4.4 log reduction against Aspergillus brasiliensis. With a favourable and economical ready-to-use profile, it is a product of choice.
Trauma, Black Water, Biohazard Decontamination, CAT3
Percide’s primary function is rapid, powerful pathogen eradication even in the presence of organic soil. Its deep pore penetration makes it a strong decontamination and restoration tool for trauma, black water and bio-contamination applications.
Percide leaves no oily or toxic residue and can be left as a residual after clean-up is complete. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, moulds, spores, and enveloped and non-enveloped viruses.

Contact time is the step that actually disinfects. One minute for bacteria and viruses, ten minutes for mould, and the surface must stay visibly wet for that whole period. On a warm or porous surface that usually means a second pass. A one-minute claim applied for fifteen seconds is not a disinfection.

How to Use
- Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location for substrate sensitivity to chemicals.
- Observe all safety directions and read the SDS before use.
- Percide is suitable on most carpets and fabrics; some delicate fibres, and fibres destabilised by disaster activity, could be affected.
Dilution — read this before you spray a synthetic carpet
Percide is supplied ready to use, and for hard surfaces no dilution is necessary.
On textiles the position is different. Actichem’s product data sheet states that polypropylene accepts the undiluted product, but other synthetics require 50% dilution. That distinction did not appear on this page previously and it matters — polypropylene is common in commercial loop pile, but nylon, polyester and wool blends are not polypropylene. Identify the fibre, or dilute 50% and pre-test.
Boosting
- For heavy mould, mix 9 parts Percide to 1 part Percide Boost for accelerated eradication and cleaning. Use within 6 hours.
- For fogging applications Actichem specify 20 ml Percide Boost per litre of Percide.
- Percide Boost is a corrosive Class 8 dangerous good. Percide is not. See the comparison under Safety.
Application
- Remove and clean away all wet and dry debris.
- Apply Percide solution to the affected area, ensuring all surfaces come into contact with it. Apply by spray, wet fog, mop or cloth.
- Agitate briefly where possible to promote penetration into porous substrates. Thorough agitation will dramatically aid mould and stain removal.
- Allow a minimum of 1 minute dwell time for disinfection, or 10 minutes for mould remediation.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Repeat for heavy mould conditions.
Note: after cleaning and disinfection are complete, Percide can be applied as a post-residual treatment for enhanced inhibition of fresh mould growth.
Safety
Earlier versions of this page carried no hazard information at all. Percide is a mild product by the standards of this catalogue, but "mild" is a conclusion the customer should be able to check, not one we should ask them to assume.
Percide is classified as a HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL under the WHS Regulations. It is not classified as dangerous goods and carries no poisons schedule.

Percide and Percide Boost are not the same hazard
These two products are sold together, mixed together and stored together. They are not equivalent, and their pages used to read as though they were.

Personal protective equipment
The SDS specifies safety glasses with side shields or chemical goggles, chemical protective gloves (neoprene recommended), overalls, a PVC apron, barrier cream and access to an eyewash unit. H319 is the reason for the eye protection — this is a fogging and spraying product, and mist finds eyes.
First aid
Eyes. Wash out immediately with fresh running water for 10 to 15 minutes, removing contact lenses if present. Seek medical attention if pain persists.
Skin. Remove contaminated clothing and wash with soap and water.
Compatibility
Percide is a peroxide. The SDS names reducing agents, acids, alkalis and combustible organic matter as incompatible. In practice:
- Do not mix with hypochlorite — Chlorosan, Mould Exterminator or pool chlorine. Two oxidisers together buy you nothing and behave unpredictably.
- Do not mix with acids — Tile & Grout Restore, Grout Restore 20, Crete Clean, Rust Remover or acid rinses.
- Do not mix with alkalis — other than Percide Boost, at the stated ratio, which is the one designed combination.
- Do not leave saturated rags or absorbent material balled up. Peroxide and combustible organic matter is a poor combination even at this concentration.
Also note that anionic detergent residue and organic soil load reduce disinfectant performance. Clean first, rinse, then disinfect — and give it the full contact time.
