How Sub-Surface Extraction Works
A surface wand pulls from the pile. A sub-surface tool seals a wide head against the carpet so the vacuum pulls through the backing and out of the underlay. Stand on the foot rest to hold the seal, and watch the clear top — when the flow runs clear and air starts to break through, that position is done.
- Saturate the affected area with your urine or odour treatment so it reaches the backing and underlay, and allow its dwell time.
- Connect your vacuum hose, place the head over the area and stand on the foot rest.
- Hold each position for 5 to 30 seconds (SOS manual) and do not overlap positions.
- Use the vacuum release to lift the head cleanly on a truckmount.
What It Is Not
Sub-surface extraction removes water and contamination from underlay you are keeping. It does not make saturated Category 3 underlay safe to leave in place — that is a restoration decision. For urine work, pair it with a treatment such as Bridgepoint Bio-Release and find the contamination first with a UV light.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between this and the Flush Kit version?
The SOS PRO with Flush Kit adds two solution ports under the head so you can flush and extract at the same time. This tool extracts only.
Will my hose fit?
It takes 1.5 in and 2 in hose cuffs. For 1.25 in hose, the SOS hand tool is the better match.
Can I get spare parts?
CCW lists an SOS Floor Tool Replacement Handle. For other parts, tell us what has broken and we will check with SOS.
SOS PRO or Water Claw?
Both are sub-surface tools. The Water Claw Medium Deluxe has a larger 10 × 17 in head; the SOS PRO has the clear top so you can see what is coming out. Choose on head size and how you like to work.
