Why the drain is half the callout
A split system that is dripping water into a room usually has a blocked condensate drain, not a refrigerant fault. Biological growth forms in a drain pan that stays wet, and it migrates into the line until the line stops draining and the pan overflows.
Clearing the drain while the coil is being washed deals with the cause rather than mopping up the effect — and it is the difference between a service that stops the complaint and one that delays it.

Using it
- Isolate the indoor unit before wet work, as you would for coil cleaning.
- With the coil washed, feed the flexible attachment into the drain outlet from the tray.
- Flush with clean water from the CoilJet and watch the discharge end. A line that does not run clear may need the blockage cleared from the outlet end as well.
- Rinse the tray and check the unit drains freely before restoring power.
On mini-splits, run a mini-split bib kit so the flush water goes to a bucket, not the wall.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use coil cleaner through the drain line?
Flush with water unless the chemical's label says it is suitable for condensate drains. Coil cleaner left sitting in a line can affect plastic fittings and whatever it discharges onto.
Will it clear a completely blocked line?
It flushes soft build-up. A line packed solid may need to be cleared from the discharge end or with a drain pump; some lines need replacing.
