This is the cure for dirty sock syndrome. Air ducts are often the source of odours, caused by smoke, pets, cooking, spoilage, and other agents. FreshDuct Odour Eliminator is specially formulated to control odours gently, but effectively, while time releasing a fresh fragrance — freshening and deodorising the interiors of both lined and unlined ducts.
It is the ready-to-use aerosol in SpeedClean's FreshDuct range (SpeedClean part 472-01). The safety data sheet names DiversiTech Corporation as the manufacturer.
What it does — and what it does not
FreshDuct is a deodoriser. It is marketed as encapsulating odour-causing molecules while releasing fragrance over time; the SDS does not describe how it works, and it makes no claim to kill mould or bacteria.
If the odour comes from mould in air handlers, ductwork or coils, the growth has to be cleaned out first. FreshDuct can then freshen what is left behind; used on its own it only covers the problem, which is back as soon as the fragrance fades.

- Follow the directions on the can. Application directions are not on file at CCW; the SDS refers to the label.
- Clean the coil, drain pan and accessible duct surfaces before deodorising.
- Ventilate the work area, keep away from ignition sources and wear chemical-resistant gloves.
- Do not spray towards eyes; the product is an eye irritant.

Frequently asked questions
Is FreshDuct a disinfectant or mould killer?
No. It is an odour eliminator. For mould, remove and clean the growth first.
Is it non-toxic and biodegradable?
CCW's earlier description said so. The SDS classifies the product as an eye irritant and a pressurised gas container, and gives biodegradability as not determined, so those claims have been removed.
Why is there a shipping surcharge?
Aerosols travel as dangerous goods (UN 1950, limited quantity), which carries a freight surcharge.
Can I use it inside a split system?
After the coil and drain pan have been cleaned, yes, following the can directions and with the unit isolated. It will not fix a smell coming from a blocked or growing drain — clear that first.
