The patented Condenser Needle® coil cleaning tool (Patent #9,676,007) is designed for condenser coil cleaning where you have access to water. It quickly blasts dirt, debris and grime from condenser coils without damaging sensitive fins. Designed to clean condenser coils from the front and back, the Condenser Needle attaches to a standard water hose and comes with everything you need to get started. This condenser coil cleaning wand delivers a unique 90° spray pattern of water and chemical cleaner – up to 11 litres per minute. The water pressure won't damage delicate fins, and SpeedClean says the spray angle virtually eliminates electrical trips and shorts – a common issue with power washers and spray attachments. Plus, its low-profile wand slips through the top grates of most condensers, saving time from removing the unit's top. Condenser Needle also includes an adjustable chemical injection hose for use with non-caustic, alkaline coil cleaners.

Why clean from the inside
A condenser draws air in through the coil and throws it out through the fan. Dirt lodges on the intake face. Washing from the inside out, as the Condenser Needle does through the top grate, pushes debris back out the way it came in — SpeedClean's recommended technique — rather than driving it deeper into the fin pack.

Before you start — Australian site checks
- Hose connection: SpeedClean specifies a standard 3/4 in garden hose connection, a US standard. Australian taps and hose fittings vary, so check you have the right adapter before you are on the roof. Ask us if unsure.
- Isolate the unit: SpeedClean says the spray angle virtually eliminates electrical trips. Isolate the condenser at its isolator before washing anyway, and keep water off electrical components.
- Chemical: use non-caustic alkaline coil cleaners only, at the label dilution, and rinse thoroughly.
Using it
- Isolate the unit and remove debris from around the base.
- Connect the gun to the garden hose and set the chemical injection if using coil cleaner.
- Feed the wand down through the top grate between the fan and the coil.
- Work around the coil bed, spraying outwards through the coil.
- Rinse with clean water until run-off is clear, then restore power.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Condenser Needle damage my coils?
No. SpeedClean designed the Condenser Needle to clean delicate fins thoroughly without damaging them. It does this by forming a unique spray pattern that never surpasses 100 psi. Depending on the fins' gauge and the spray angle, SpeedClean notes that coil damage can begin as low as 125 psi.
Does a dirty coil cause frosting over the evaporator?
Yes, dirt and debris in the coil can cause frosting as airflow is impeded. However, other factors, such as refrigerant balancing, can also cause frosting. Clean your evaporator coils to see if that makes a difference; otherwise, contact a licensed HVAC contractor to review your particular system.
Can you clean the evaporator coil with the Condenser Needle?
You certainly can; however, it's designed to clean coils up to 51 mm thick. It uses only the water pressure you provide and flows at about 3 gpm (about 11 L/min). For thicker coils, SpeedClean has pointed customers to its FlowJet coil cleaner system, designed for coils up to 200 mm thick. CCW does not list the FlowJet — ask us about options.
Do I need the fan off?
Yes. The wand goes through the top grate near the fan; isolate the unit so the fan cannot start.
Condenser Needle or CoilJet?
The Condenser Needle needs a water supply and suits outdoor condensers. The CoilJet CJ-125 carries its own water and battery for evaporators, split systems and places without a tap.
