Delmhorst 631 Contact Pin Chuck

Regular price $18.04

Contact pin chuck for Delmhorst hammer and two-pin electrodes

The chuck is the body in the electrode head that the pin retainer threads into. It takes the load every time the electrode is driven, and it is a serviceable part rather than a reason to replace the electrode.

Chuck or retainer?

If the pin will not sit square, or the retainer no longer runs cleanly onto the thread, the chuck is the part to replace. If the pin works loose but the thread is sound, replace the 632 retainer first — it is the cheaper part and the more common failure.

Frequently asked questions

Can I replace this in the field?

Yes. It is a threaded component and needs no special tools, but work on a bench rather than on a job — the parts are small and easy to lose.

Does a worn chuck affect readings?

It can. A pin that is not held square makes intermittent contact under hammer load, which shows up as unstable or low readings.
