The Westpak AW792 is a forged stainless steel Soft Touch angled valve fitted to carpet cleaning and truckmount wands. Westpak catalogue it as part 20-0085.
It shares the same body design and mounting pattern as the brass Westpak AW791, but is built in stainless steel and rated to 1500 psi, making it suited to higher-pressure and hot water extraction setups.
Why Professionals Choose It
Unlike a standard ball valve that snaps open and shut, this soft touch valve throttles smoothly, so operators can meter flow with a light, progressive squeeze rather than a hard action. This reduces strain on the hand and wrist over a full day of cleaning.
Key Features
- Soft-opening throttle action for precise, low-effort flow control even at higher pressures
- Forged stainless steel body for strength, corrosion resistance and long service life
- Stainless steel ball with a Teflon seat that is self-cleaning and self-centering
- 30-degree angled outlet, removing the need for a separate elbow fitting
- Rated to 1500 psi, suited to truckmount and hot water extraction pressures
Brass or Stainless Steel?
| Valve | Body | Rated pressure | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| AW791 (Westpak 20-0030) | Forged brass | 1200 psi | Standard truckmount and portable pressures |
| AW792 (Westpak 20-0085) — this valve | Forged stainless steel | 1500 psi | Higher pressure, or where corrosion resistance matters (acidic rinses, heavy daily use) |
Both valves use the same internals and the same repair kit, so a fleet can run a mix of the two without carrying different spares.
Applications and Compatibility
Fitted as the flow control valve on carpet cleaning wands including AW29 and compatible Hydramaster 1.5 inch Evolution wands. Shares the same mounting pattern as the brass AW791 valve, so it can be used as a direct upgrade where extra pressure capacity or corrosion resistance is needed.
- CMP AW29 1.5 inch x 12 inch 2 jet wand
- HydraMaster Evolution 1.5 inch wand (compatible versions)
- US distributors also list the valve for PMF, Prochem, Kingston, CDI and CMP wands — mounting patterns differ between those brands, so treat that as a starting point, not a confirmed fit
As wand valve mounting patterns vary between manufacturers, confirm the mounting pattern and thread size of your existing valve with our team before ordering as a replacement.
Westpak list a retrofit adapter bracket (AW793) for Prochem wands not drilled for this valve. CCW does not list it online — contact us if you need one. If your wand takes a Kingston 251-30 valve instead, see the Kingston 251-30 wand valve.

Fitting Advice
- Turn the machine off and release pressure from the solution line before removing the old valve.
- Note the orientation of the 30-degree outlet so the new valve points the solution line the same way.
- Use a thread sealant suited to hot water and cleaning chemicals on the NPT threads. Do not over-tighten into the valve body.
- Run water through the wand at working pressure and check both the thread joints and the stem for weeping before starting a job.
Maintenance
Apply rubber grease to the o-rings on the valve stem every 100 hours of use.
If the valve begins to leak, stick, or loses its smooth throttling action, the Soft Touch Valve Repair Kit (AW794) rebuilds both the brass (AW791) and stainless steel (AW792) versions. If a rebuilt valve continues to leak after repair, replacement is generally the more reliable option.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this valve fit my wand?
It shares the AW791 mounting pattern and suits AW29 and compatible Evolution 1.5 inch wands. Other brands are cross-referenced by distributors but patterns differ — send us a photo of your current valve and bracket.
Is it worth paying more for stainless over brass?
If you run above 1200 psi, or your wand sees acidic rinses and heavy daily use, yes. At standard pressures the brass AW791 does the same job.
Can I rebuild it?
Yes. The AW794 kit rebuilds both the brass and stainless versions. When a rebuilt valve still leaks, replace the valve.
Does it need a separate elbow?
No. The 30-degree outlet takes the place of the elbow fitting on the solution line.
What temperature is it rated to?
Westpak do not publish a temperature rating. It is sold for hot water extraction wands, but if your machine runs unusually hot, ask us before fitting.
