Where poles let go
A spring-loaded pole holds by friction at both ends. On vinyl, polished stone or a sealed timber floor there is not much friction to work with, and the foot creeps — slowly, then suddenly. The barrier comes down, and on a containment job it comes down at the worst moment.
GripDisks are the answer on exactly those surfaces, and they are also gentler on the finish than a bare foot under load.
Using Them
- Fit one under each pole standing on a hard, smooth floor.
- Keep the disk and the floor clean and dry — dust and water between them defeat the grip.
- Check the pole is still firmly loaded after fitting, and again if the room is being dried or heated, as the building moves slightly.
- Replace disks that have hardened, cracked or polished smooth.
The 2 pole and 4 pole packs include GripDisks; this is the spare pack. Also check the foot plug on each pole.

Do I need them on carpet?
Generally no — carpet gives the foot enough grip. They are for hard, smooth floors.
