Overview
High temperature control valve, 180 °F, listed by HydraMaster as Valve, Hi Temp Control 180°.
It sits in the by-pass valve assembly and protects the system from overheating by dumping solution once it passes the set temperature. A failed valve shows up either as solution that never reaches temperature, or as a machine that runs hot without relief.
Where it is fitted
- By-Pass Valve Assembly — 1 per machine
- Fitted alongside the 0-1500 PSI regulator valve 000-169-188
Verified fitment — current machines
- Boxxer 318HP — Water Box Assembly (Figure 9-19), 1
- TMTG4000 — Water Box Assembly (Figure 9-26), 1
The parts books draw this valve on the water box sheet because that is where it dumps to. It works with the by-pass and pressure regulation circuit — the drawing location reflects where the valve is plumbed, not what it does.
HydraMaster does not name the valve manufacturer anywhere in either manual. CCW supplies it as the CAT 180 °F thermo valve.
Supersession
The TMTG4000 parts book carries the engineering change note 000-169-011 was 169-027, ECR 2509, 14 January 2008. If you are working from an older parts list showing the superseded number, this is the current part.
Verified from the HydraMaster parts books: Boxxer 318HP MAN-46586 Rev C and TMTG4000 MAN-47717 Rev B.

Frequently asked questions
My solution never reaches temperature. Could this be it?
Yes. A valve stuck open dumps continuously, so the system never builds heat.
My machine runs hot with no relief. Same part?
It can be — a valve stuck closed gives exactly that. Both symptoms point at the same component from opposite directions.
Is the set point adjustable?
No. 180 °F is the rating of the part. There is nothing to calibrate.
Send us your machine model and serial number and we will confirm the correct valve before you order.
Identifying the right part
HydraMaster truckmounts share many components across models and across production years. Part numbers in the CCW catalogue are the HydraMaster part number with the 000- prefix removed — this item is HydraMaster P/N 000-169-011.
If you are ordering for an existing machine, check the model and serial number on the data plate and send them to us. We will confirm the part against the parts list for your machine before you order.
Confirmed against the HydraMaster Boxxer 421 machine assemblies and parts lists (drawing set D-5057 / D-6861). Fitment to other HydraMaster models has not been verified from a parts list — ask us if you are ordering for a different machine.
