This is the high-limit switch — the one that cuts the machine out when solution temperature reaches a point it should never reach in normal use. It is a protection device, not a control.

Important — the set point is the part
Several HydraMaster temperature switches look identical and are not interchangeable:
- 149-0111 — 185 °F — SpitFire 4.0, Crossfire 4.2, old style

Fitting a higher-rated switch to gain running temperature is not a modification, it is the removal of a safety device. Read the temperature marked on the switch you are replacing.
Related parts in the same assembly
On most machines this switch sits alongside temperature sender 149-039 and RTD sensor 149-540, which is mounted with compression fitting 052-587. The three do different jobs: the sender drives the gauge, the RTD drives the control, and this switch is the backstop.
Fitting advice
Use the correct sealant on the 3/8 inch NPT thread and check the assembly drawing for your machine — HydraMaster specify sealant on these manifold drawings explicitly.
Do not over-tighten it into a brass manifold.
Photograph the wiring before you disconnect it.
Frequently asked questions
My machine keeps cutting out. Should I fit a higher switch?
No. Find out why it is reaching 285 °F. A high-limit switch tripping is the machine telling you something — commonly a restriction in the solution circuit, a failed by-pass, or a diverter fault.
Is it adjustable?
No. Fixed set point.
Is it the same as the temperature sender?
No. The sender (149-039) drives the gauge. This is a switch that opens or closes a circuit at a fixed temperature.
Is it the same as the Bridgepoint part?
Yes — PHY149-017.
My machine is not on the list. Will it fit?
Ask us. The thread is 3/8 inch NPT and the switch is widely used, but we are not going to claim fitment we have not verified.
