Tramex Building Survey Inspection EZ Kit - BSIZK

Moisture survey kit for building materials

The Tramex Building Survey Inspection EZ Kit allows for both non-destructive and pin moisture content readings of drywall, wood, plaster, brick, ceramic tiles, resilient flooring, laminates and roofing and numerous building materials. The hammer pin probe provides instant and accurate moisture content readings in wood and WME in wood by-products and other materials.

The Moisture Encounter MEX5 moisture meter measures moisture content in wood and drywall and provides comparative readings in a variety of building materials. It also features a built-in hygrometer for ambient conditions and psychrometric values, an Infrared Surface Thermometer and connects to the hand-held hammer-action pin probe for wood, drywall, and WME readings.

Bluetooth connectivity to the Tramex Meters App allows for visualization of readings, moisture mapping and data reporting to mobile devices, to GeoTag test results, create, save and share photos, reports and charts, as well as see your meter screen on your phone when extending to hard to reach places.

The Tramex Building Survey Inspection EZ Kit comes with a protective easy-travel case.

Accessory connector

The MEX5 uses the bayonet connector, so any RH or pin probes added later must be the “B” suffix versions – see the AP-F2170-B accessory pack for in-situ RH testing.

Frequently asked questions

Does this kit do in-situ RH testing?

Not as supplied. The MEX5 accepts Hygro-i2 probes, but the kit contains the meter and a hammer-action wood probe only. Add the AP-F2170-B pack or a probe, RHIE2B cable and hole liners for ASTM F2170 work.

What does the hammer-action probe do?

It drives insulated pins into timber to read moisture content at depth rather than at the surface, which is what tells you whether a structural member is wet through or has simply taken up surface moisture.
