Product Overview

A 1/4 inch female quick connect built into a moulded protective cover. It does two jobs at once: it is the coupler on your solution line, and it is the guard that stops that coupler burning hands and marking the customer's property.

This is the brass version, with a black cover.

Why a Covered Coupler

A solution line runs hot. The metal at a quick connect is the hottest thing an operator touches all day, and it is touched every time a tool is changed. It is also the hardest thing on the end of a dragged hose, which is why skirtings get chipped, timber floors get scratched and furniture legs get marked.

A Safe Connect covers the fitting on both halves of the joint, so the metal is not what contacts the hand or the floor.

Where to Fit It

  • At the wand end of the solution hose, where the operator connects and disconnects most often
  • At the machine end, where the fitting is dragged across the van sill and the doorway

Both ends is the usual answer. Those are the two points where the fitting is either in a hand or against something that marks.

Important — This Is the Female Half

Quick connects are sold as halves. This is the female coupler. It needs a matching 1/4 inch male plug on the other side of the joint:

Seals

Dual Viton O-rings. Viton holds up to the solvent-bearing chemistry that swells and softens nitrile, which matters on a coupler that sees prespray, solvent spotters and hot rinse over the same week.

Operating Advice

  • Depressurise before disconnecting. The cover protects your hand from heat, not from a live line letting go.
  • The cover hides the coupler, so inspect it deliberately rather than waiting to notice wear. Pull the cover back when a joint starts to weep.
  • Keep the bore clean. A cover does not stop grit reaching the sealing face when the plug is dropped on the floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the quick connect included, or is this just a cover?

Included. This is a complete female quick connect with the protective cover fitted.

Does it protect the male side too?

Yes. The cover shields the joint, so both halves are covered once they are connected.

Will it fit my existing fittings?

It is a 1/4 inch female coupler and will mate with 1/4 inch male plugs of the same thread standard. If you are mixing equipment from different sources, tell us what you have and we will check.

Do I need one at both ends of the hose?

Most operators fit them at the wand and at the machine, because those are the two joints that are handled and dragged.

Does the cover make it slower to connect?

No. It connects the same way. The difference is what your hand lands on.

What We See in the Field

Burns and floor damage are both preventable and neither gets reported until it has happened. The hose fitting that marks a client's skirting board costs more in one visit than covering every coupler on the truck.
