What It Is

The Velo draws air in through the top intake and pushes it out across the floor. The HEPA kit fits over that intake, so every cubic metre the airmover moves passes through a pleated HEPA element first. The result is an airmover that also takes fine dust out of the room while it dries or while renovation work goes on around it.

Dri-Eaz (Legend Brands part 105627) describes it as a kit for general in-room air scrubbing to remove particulate and improve air quality.

Important: General Air Scrubbing, Not a Rated HEPA Air Scrubber

Dri-Eaz publishes no filter efficiency rating, tested airflow with the kit fitted, or test standard for the Velo HEPA kit. It is not a sealed, tested air scrubber and it is not designed to create negative air pressure in containment.

Use it to cut airborne dust while you dry, clean or renovate. Where a job specification, scope of works or remediation standard calls for a HEPA air scrubber or negative air machine, use a purpose-built unit from our Air Scrubbers range.

What's in the Kit

From the Dri-Eaz F518 owner's manual:

• HEPA filter element
• Filter frame
• Prefilter cover (1)
• Top assembly with wingnut

Fitting the Kit

1. Switch off and unplug the Velo, and stand it on a stable, level surface.
2. Centre the filter frame over the impeller assembly with the hooks under the intake grill, then rotate it clockwise until secure.
3. Slide the HEPA filter element down over the frame, centred over the air intake.
4. Pull the prefilter cover down over the HEPA element.
5. Place the top over the assembly and tighten the wingnut to lock it to the unit. Do not over-tighten.

Changing the Filters

• Prefilter (F520, 20 pack): replace when dust build-up is visible.
• HEPA filter (F519, 1 pack): replace when airflow is noticeably reduced.

Changing the prefilter often is the cheapest way to make the HEPA element last.

Special Instructions

• When using your Velo or Velo Pro HEPA Kit for conditions where dangerous contaminants may be present, both the HEPA filter (F519) and the Prefilter (F520) should be replaced after each job to help prevent cross-contamination.
• Before installing new filters, vacuum and damp-wipe top plate and wireframe according to current ANSI/IICRC standards for remediation.
• Remove filters and clean the unit before removing it from the containment area to avoid cross-contamination.
• Allow the unit to dry before installing clean filters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Velo still dry while the HEPA kit is fitted?

Yes, it still moves air, but the filter adds resistance, so expect less airflow than an open Velo. Dri-Eaz does not publish the airflow figure with the kit fitted.

Can I use it for mould remediation?

Dri-Eaz lists mould remediation among its uses, for general dust control. It is not a substitute for a HEPA air scrubber or negative air machine where the remediation plan requires one.

Will it fit other brands of airmover?

No. Dri-Eaz makes it for the Velo and Velo Pro only.

How often do I change the filters?

Prefilter when dust is visible, HEPA when airflow drops. After any job with hazardous contaminants, replace both.

Can I clean and reuse the HEPA element?

Dri-Eaz's instructions are to replace the HEPA element and prefilter; they give no cleaning procedure. Vacuuming or blowing out a pleated HEPA element can damage the media.
