The Delmhorst JX-30 is a timber specialist. Where the BDX-30 spreads across wood, drywall and general building materials, the JX-30 concentrates on wood and carries far more species data — 197 species corrections available through the EDGE app, with up to 100 held in the meter at once.
That matters because resistance varies between species at the same moisture content. On flooring, joinery and timber supply work, the species correction is the difference between a reading you can put in a report and one you cannot.
It also corrects for whether you are using insulated or non-insulated pins, which most meters do not.
What is in this package
- JX-30 meter with integral pins
- Hard carrying case
Meter and case. For reading at depth in timber flooring, the Flooring package adds the 26-ES slide hammer electrode.

Frequently asked questions
Why does species selection matter so much on timber?
Electrical resistance differs between species at the same moisture content. Reading jarrah on a Douglas Fir setting can be several percent out, which is enough to lay a floor that should have waited. The JX-30 gives you 197 species corrections through the app, with up to 100 held in the meter.
Insulated or non-insulated pins?
Non-insulated pins read the wettest point anywhere along their length. Insulated pins read only at the tip, which is what you want when measuring a moisture gradient through a board. The JX-30 corrects for which type you are using.
How does this differ from the BDX-30?
The BDX-30 covers wood, drywall and general building materials, with 37 species corrections in its app. The JX-30 is wood-focused, with 197. Restoration and building inspection suits the BDX; timber flooring, joinery and timber supply suit the JX.
Can I add electrodes later?
Yes. All Delmhorst electrodes fit all current Delmhorst meters.
Support and warranty
Carpet Cleaners Warehouse is the exclusive Australian distributor for Delmhorst outside the agricultural sector. Service, calibration questions and warranty claims are handled here rather than sent overseas, and we hold electrodes and pins in stock.
Two year warranty on manufacturing defects. This does not exclude, restrict or modify your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
What we see in the field
Before someone rejects a load of timber on a single high reading, we'd want to know the species and where the pins went in. Check a few boards at different points and apply the meter's species correction. The number only means something if the test method stays the same.
