Before You Fit It
- Measure the space first — 123 cm of clear wall length and 105 cm of height, plus clearance for the doors and anything mounted nearby.
- Fix it to the van structure, not just to the lining. A loaded shelf under heavy braking puts far more load on the fixings than it does sitting still.
- Check where wiring, fuel lines and body panels run before drilling.
- Restrain the containers on the shelves so they cannot slide off when the van corners or brakes.
Secure the heavy items separately
A shelf is for bottles. Twenty litre drums belong in a jerry-style holder — they are too heavy to restrain on a shelf.
