An unsecured 20 litre drum is a projectile
Twenty litres is twenty kilograms. In a hard stop it does not stay where you put it, and in a van it travels through whatever is in front of it. Securing chemical containers is a load restraint obligation, not housekeeping.
The second reason is spillage. A drum that tips leaks concentrate into the van floor, where it sits under everything else, corrodes fittings and comes out on the next carpet you kneel on.
Check the fit before you order
Jerry-style containers are not made to one standard size, and we have not confirmed whether the 38 × 19 × 30.5 cm figure is the holder's internal or external measurement. Measure your container's footprint and height and compare them before ordering. If your drums are an unusual shape, send us the brand and we will check.
Fitting advice
- Fix the holder to the vehicle structure — the floor, a wall frame or a trailer chassis rail — not to a thin lining panel.
- Check behind any panel for wiring, fuel lines and brake lines before drilling.
- Seal drilled holes in a trailer floor or van body so water and chemical cannot get into the structure.
- Mount it where the cap is easy to reach and any drip lands on a surface you can wipe clean.
Fixings are not listed as included. Allow for bolts, washers and nuts to suit your vehicle.
