Metal or plastic?
The metal head takes more clamping force and survives being over-tightened, which is what eventually breaks a plastic jaw. If the clamp is being used at the end of a long pole where the operator cannot feel how hard they are working it, metal is the one to buy.
The lighter option is the plastic head.

Where it fits on a restoration job
On smoke and soot jobs the clamp holds a dry cleaning sponge on a pole for ceilings and high walls, so the sponge can be worked in straight overlapping strokes without a ladder move every metre. Turn or replace the sponge as soon as the face loads with soot; a loaded sponge smears rather than lifts.
