Why a glide is not a luxury on a detail tool
A detail tool is used on upholstery, stairs and edges — the places where the operator is working at awkward angles and cannot brace properly. A glide cuts the drag substantially, which means less force through the wrist and less risk of the head catching and marking a face fabric.
It also lifts the head slightly, which changes the airflow at the slot. If the tool has started leaving water behind, check the glide for wear before you look further.
