Important — Material Not Specified
This is the one seal in the Hydro-Force pump-up range where the manufacturer does not state the elastomer. Its siblings are marketed as Viton; this one is not described either way.
We have since put this to the supplier. The answer was that it is a rubber elastomer and that the compound is not specified — so the honest position has not changed, but it is now a supplier answer rather than an absence of information.
That matters if you are rebuilding a sprayer for solvent or acid service, where the seal material is the whole question. We are not going to assume it is Viton because the parts next to it are. If chemical compatibility is critical to your job, tell us the chemical you are running and we will point you at a seal we can vouch for.
When to Replace It
A pump that has become hard to prime, or that loses pressure without an obvious external leak, is usually telling you the pump seal has gone. It is a cheap part and a fast job, and it is worth doing before you start suspecting the pump barrel.

It is listed for AS14 and AS16. The A-suffix machines are B&G-built and use B&G part numbers, so check with us before ordering for those.
My pump is stiff rather than leaking. Same part?
Possibly — a swollen or hardened seal binds as well as leaks. Grease and inspect before replacing.
Should I replace anything else at the same time?
If the sprayer is old enough to need a pump seal, look at the Pump Plunger Cup (NA2254) and the Viton Check Valve (NA2256) while it is apart.

What We See in the Field
Rinsing and depressurising the unit after use does more for seal life than repeatedly rebuilding it. Even with a chemical-resistant seal, check compatibility with the product being sprayed instead of assuming one elastomer tolerates everything.
