Swivel for SX-7 AR51G Ceramic Dual Power (NX108)

Regular price $665.24

Product Overview

The high pressure swivel for the Hydro-Force SX-7 hand tile tool. Hydro-Force describe it as a dual inlet swivel with 1/8 inch FPT ports, and specify a Mosmatic swivel on the SX-7.

The swivel is what lets the head spin while solution keeps flowing into it under pressure. It is the single most expensive component in the tool, and it is serviceable.

Repair Before You Replace

A swivel that is turning slowly or leaking usually does not need replacing. Hydro-Force's own guidance is that a repair kit with ceramic inserts and O-rings is available for exactly those symptoms.

The kit is PM036903 and it covers NX100, NX101, NX105 and NX108. It contains two ceramic seats, two cupped washers, two O-rings, a seat puller tool and thread locker. You need a 6mm Allen key, a 3/4 inch spanner and a vice.

The exception is bearing failure. The manufacturer states plainly that no other repair parts are available — if the bearings have gone, the swivel is replaced.

Which Swivel Fits Which Tool

Swivel Tool
NX108 — this part SX-7 (AR51G), new style
NX101 SX-12, old style (AW104)
NX105 SX-15 and CX-15

They are not interchangeable. Order by tool, not by appearance.

Making It Last

The maintenance instruction from Hydro-Force is short and worth following: keep the swivel mounting nuts tight. A loose spinner reduces the efficiency of the tool and puts load through the swivel it was not meant to carry.

What We Cannot Tell You

Hydro-Force publishes no pressure, flow, temperature or RPM rating for this swivel, and no service life. We are not going to borrow the figures from the SX-15's NX105 swivel, which is a different part.

Work to the tool's ratings instead — the SX-7 is rated to a maximum of 2,000 PSI with 800 to 1,000 PSI recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is turning slowly. Do I need a new one?

Probably not. Slow turning or leaking is what the rebuild kit is for. Bearing failure is the case that needs a replacement.

What is 'dual inlet'?

The manufacturer's wording is dual inlet with two 1/8 inch FPT ports. The SX-7 runs two separate solution paths to its spray bar and front jet, which is consistent — though the manufacturer does not spell out that connection.

Can I fit an NX101 or NX105 instead?

No. Each swivel belongs to its own tool.

What pressure can it take?

Not published for the swivel. Work to the SX-7's rating — 2,000 PSI maximum, 800 to 1,000 PSI recommended.

Why is it the expensive part?

It carries full solution pressure through a rotating joint, continuously, in hot water. That is a hard job for any seal.

What We See in the Field

"It's only a tiny weep." The high-pressure swivel is one of the hardest-working parts in a rotary tile tool. Keep the tool's spray system filtered and don't run a leaking swivel until it damages surrounding parts.
