Product Overview
Replacement brush skirt ring for the Hydro-Force SX-12 rotary tile tool.
It is a single moulded bristle skirt, not a multi-part kit. The skirt is what seals the tool to the floor, so it is the component that determines how much water the tool actually recovers.
Fitting It — Heat It First
This is the part people get wrong, and the manufacturer is blunt about the consequence.
Soften the ring first with a heat gun, a heat lamp, or by dropping it in hot water. Then snap it onto the base of the tool.
Forced on cold, the ring will break — and the manufacturer states that a ring broken this way is not covered by warranty. Two minutes in hot water is the whole job.
When to Replace It
Hydro-Force's criterion is straightforward: replace the brush ring if the bristles are excessively bent, worn, or if too many are missing. A worn skirt stops sealing the tool to the floor, and once the seal goes you lose recovery no matter how much vacuum the machine has.
Do Not Confuse the Two Sizes
Brush Ring for SX-12 (AB50) is the SX-12 ring. Brush Ring for SX-15 (AB53) is the SX-15 ring. They are different diameters and they do not interchange.
One Fitment Caution
AB50 fits the older AW104-generation SX-12 only. The SX-12 was later redesigned to an outer shell and inner shell architecture, and the newer tool takes a different part. This is confirmed, not inferred — do not order AB50 for a redesigned tool.
If your SX-12 is the newer style, order the SX-12 Inner Shell Base with Brush, New Style (AB50-NEW) instead. If you are not sure which you have, send us a photo of the underside of the head and we will identify it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does it need heating?
The ring is moulded slightly undersize so it grips. Cold, it has no stretch and it snaps. The manufacturer will not warrant a ring broken by cold fitting.
Hot water or a heat gun?
Either. Hot water is the easiest and hardest to overdo.
When should I replace it?
When the bristles are excessively bent, worn, or too many are missing. Once the skirt stops sealing, recovery drops regardless of vacuum.
Will it fit the other SX tool?
No. Brush Ring for SX-15 (AB53) is the other size.

What We See in the Field
The brush skirt is a wear item, but technicians often keep running it long after it has stopped doing its job. Once the bristles are uneven or permanently laid over, water containment and tool movement become inconsistent and overspray around edges gets harder to control.
