Important — heavy duty or standard duty?
These are for the BLD5055 heavy duty electrode. The BLD5000 standard duty electrode takes BLD0529 needles instead. Check the model number stamped on your electrode before ordering — the two part numbers are easy to confuse and the needles do not swap.
Needles bend, and that is normal
A hammer electrode drives insulated needles into hard and softwoods at depth. They bend, they blunt and occasionally they snap — this is a consumable, not a defect. Carry a pack.
A bent or blunt pin makes intermittent contact, and on a resistance meter poor contact reads low — it reports a substrate as drier than it is. That is the dangerous direction for the error to run. Change pins at the first sign of damage rather than at the point of obvious failure.
The other wear parts on this electrode are the replacement cable and the replacement base.
