Minehan Coil-Shine Alkaline Coil Cleaner Aerosol 400g

Regular price $22.28

SKU:CMA16-01-2030

Minehan Coil-Shine is a strongly alkaline aerosol cleaner for air conditioning coils and condensers. Its surfactants, emulsifiers and penetrating action work deep into the coil and carry contaminants out. A clean coil restores airflow and brings the system's head pressure back down.

Why coil cleaning matters

A fouled coil restricts airflow and insulates the heat-exchange surface. The system works harder for less output, head pressure rises, and running costs climb. A properly cleaned and maintained system runs more efficiently. How much it saves depends on how fouled the coil was and how the system is used.

Key features

  • Strongly alkaline, pH 13+
  • Surfactants and emulsifiers penetrate deep into coils and condensers
  • Short 2 to 5 minute dwell, then rinse
  • Aerosol format for in-place work
  • Avoids hydrofluoric acid-based aluminium cleaners

Directions for use

  1. Wet the coils thoroughly with water.
  2. Spray Coil-Shine liberally over the coil face.
  3. Allow 2 to 5 minutes to penetrate.
  4. Flush thoroughly with water.

At pH 13+ Coil-Shine is corrosive. Wear the eye and skin protection listed on the safety data sheet. Do not let it dry on aluminium fins: rinse it off completely within the stated dwell time.

Isolate power before cleaning in place, and protect electrical components, walls and flooring. The Mini-Split bib and low tack tape are made for this.

Safer substitution

Workplace health and safety regulations require a less hazardous product to be substituted for a more hazardous one where practicable. Hydrofluoric acid-based aluminium cleaners carry severe acute hazards. Coil-Shine is alkaline and contains no hydrofluoric acid, which removes that hazard. It is still corrosive and must be handled as the safety data sheet directs.

Frequently asked questions

Does it need rinsing?

Yes. Pre-wet, apply, allow 2 to 5 minutes, then flush thoroughly with water. For a no-rinse option on an operating unit, see Cobra.

Will it damage aluminium fins?

Strong alkalis attack aluminium if left on. Pre-wetting, keeping to the dwell time and rinsing thoroughly are what protect the fins.

Indoor coil or outdoor condenser?

Minehan describe it as a coil and condenser cleaner. On indoor units, protect the surroundings and make sure rinse water drains away.

A note on earlier versions of this page

Earlier versions of this page said clean systems deliver up to 25% lower electricity bills, and that hydrofluoric acid cleaners had been proven carcinogenic. We could not substantiate either claim, so both have been reworded. The product is unchanged.
