A correction to our earlier listing
We previously described this pin as 12 mm penetration. Delmhorst specifies 7/16 inch, which is 11.1 mm. The difference is small but the figure now matches the manufacturer.
Uninsulated means an averaged reading
The whole pin conducts, so the meter reports the wettest point anywhere along the 11 mm of penetration. That is usually what you want on drywall and thin stock. It is not what you want when you are chasing a moisture gradient through thick timber — for that, fit insulated 496 or 1849 pins instead.

What holds the pins in the electrode?
The 632 retainer. The 631 chuck is the other wear part in the same assembly.
Can I use these for concrete or masonry?
The 22-E is rated for masonry and plaster, and the tapered point helps. Expect pins to blunt quickly on anything abrasive.
Are they interchangeable with the 496?
They fit the same electrodes but they are not equivalent. The A-111 is uninsulated and shallower; the 496 is insulated and reads at the tip only.
