Long insulated pin for behind-the-wall and heavy timber probes
A 4 inch steel pin, Teflon insulated except for the last 1/8 inch of the tip, so the reading comes from the depth the tip has reached rather than everything above it.
Fitment
- Standard pin on the 21-E deep wall probe
- Standard pin on the 21-ET deep wall probe with tapped handle
- Standard pin on the 18-ES slide hammer electrode

Need to go deeper?
The 608/001 pin is the long version, for the 21-E/001 and 21-ET/001 electrodes. Check which electrode you have before ordering — the retainer is the same but the pins are not interchangeable in use.
Frequently asked questions
What retainer do these use?
The 305RET-0021 retainer, which holds both the 608 and the 608/001.
Why does the tip need to be the only bare part?
Inside a wall cavity the pin passes through plasterboard, insulation and air on its way to whatever you are testing. An uninsulated pin would report the wettest of all of them.
Do I need to pre-drill?
Not for cavity work. For the 18-ES in poles and heavy timber, Delmhorst recommends pilot holes.
