This is not the hammer electrode retainer
If you are replacing pin retainers on a 26-ES, 26-ED or 22-E, you want the 632 retainer instead. The two are not interchangeable — this one is sized for the longer 608-series pins.
Hand tighten only. Over-tightening strips the thread.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the standard retainer?
It is dimensioned for the long 608 series pins used in deep-wall and slide-hammer work. A standard retainer will not clamp them correctly.
How tight should it be?
Hand tight. Delmhorst specify hand tightening throughout — a retainer done up with pliers distorts and then grips inconsistently, which shows up as unstable readings.
When should I replace it?
When the pin moves under load, or when the thread no longer holds hand-tight. Retainers are consumable and cheap relative to the readings they affect.
